SiOnyx Front Objective Protection Shield

This SiOnyx Front Objective Protection Shield is a handy accessory you can use to protect the objective lens of your SiOnyx color night vision camera from scratches and impacts. This lens does not affect the light output of your night viewer. This protective lens is custom made and is compatible with the entire SiOnyx Aurora series (Aurora SPORT, BLACK, STANDARD/CLASSIC, PRO and PRO EXPLORER).
The housing is made of 3D printed plastic and features a serrated edge on the outer edge for a high degree of grip (useful when wearing gloves, for example). On the inside there's Velcro. So you can safely place the protective shield over the objective lens of your SiOnyx camera. The whole is sturdy enough so that you do not lose it during use. The lens itself is made of plexiglass and is only 4mm thick. The entire product weighs less than 25 grams.

Impact test

The Plexiglas is strong enough to withstand multiple impacts from airsoft balls at a speed of about 90 meters per second (approximate 1 Joule). This test involved 0.20 grams of BB-type airsoft balls. In practice, this means that the lens will protect against most impacts during airsoft/paintball. According to the tests, the plexiglass no longer provides protection when you use 0.45 gram BB balls (130m/s) or heavier.

Application SiOnyx Front Objective Protection Shield

This accessory comes in handy in any situation where the objective of your SiOnyx color night vision camera can be damaged. Think for example of airsoft balls that can end up on the lens. But also in any other situation where you want to provide the lens with extra protection, this shield is a valuable addition.
Note: this shield protects the lens for impacts based on official test results. We are nonetheless never liable for any damage that may occur to (the lens of) your night vision camera.
